The GYBT exists to provide Youth Bowlers the opportunity to qualify for the annual Junior Gold National Youth Tournament in which over 3800 youth, from across the country, participated in July 2019 at Detroit MI. The GYBT was started by several Dads almost 15 years ago and has grown to the point that kids from TN, LA, AL, SC, NC, FL and GA come together on the first Sunday of the month to bowl scratch on Sport Shots that not only qualify a youth for a coveted Jr. Gold spot, but also for the privilege of competing in the TOC.
The TOC, at the end of the bowling season, allows the youth an opportunity to not only earn a berth into the following year's Jr. Gold, they also earn points that contribute to their Bowler of the Year standings within GYBT (SMART Scholarship). The first 10 games they bowl on the first day of the tournament decides the Jr. Gold slot and the second day of 5 games, totaled with the first 10, decides who will go into the step ladder for each age division. Over $8,000 were given out in scholarship money for the June 2019 tournament and Augusta will be well represented!
